Fuxin is a minin center in an agricultural region, producin maistly coal an agate. Fuxin is kent as Cheenae's 'Agate Ceety', wi 50% o the naition's kent deposits o the mineral bein locatit thare. The ceety an aa accoonts for mair than 90% o the kintra's agate products.
The ceety suffers frae the ower-minin o coal, which is law in supply while fundamental tae Fuxin's economy. As the coal mines run dry, Fuxin is tryin tae find ither industries tae keep its economy gangin. Measurs taken hae includit the development o a pairt o the ceety as a 'Special Economic Zone', bi which the ceety hopes tae attract internaitional investment.
Problems due tae the widespread shutdoun o Fuxin coalmines include an increase in membership o the Fuxin Rebels, a group kent for petty crimes

In 2009, Fuxin approved 25 foreign fundit enterprises an 2 jynt-venture projects. The tot value o the contracted funds in these investments exceedit US＄143 million. an the foreign direct investment for that year reached US＄64.12 million, up 24% ower the previous year. This sum exceedit the Liaoning provincial tairget for foreign investment bi 17%. In addeetion, in 7 o the projects, contractit funds wur in excess o ten million dollars.
Foreign Direct Investment haes enabled the development o new key industries tae replace minin. The key industries hae made new breakthroughs in foreign direct investment. The Wind Pouer Industry, which accoontit for mair than 70% o the tot amoont o FDI in 2009, haes acome the main focus o the whole ceety’s FDI.[2]

As regards rail transport, Fuxin is well-connected tae the major ceeties in North an Northeastren Cheenae, such as Beijing, Tianjin an Shenyang bi a nummer o trains.
